The Coptic arrived in the stream at 11.30 last night from London via way ports, reports leaving London on April 17, Plymonth 19th, Teneriffe 23rd, Capetown 12th May, nnd Hobart June 1. On 25th May thoy experienced a gale with terriffic sea, and Capt. Kempson says that during the number of years he has been running to the colonies he never saw such unfavourable winds as he has experienced from the equator to Hobart on his present voyage. The Coptic is commanded by Cipt. Kempson, R.N.R., who for the past twelve months has been in command of the Ttoyal mail steamers, Oceanic and Arabic, ou the China station, and previous to this he was third, second, and chief officer of the ship he now sails. H. A.'Braithwaite as purser having succeeded A. Gaineron, who is now purser of the Atlantic liner Britannia, J. H. Allgourton, late chief engineer of the Arabic, succeeded Morrison as chief engineer, the other officers are the same as on the last voyage. The Coptic's time from Plymouth was 40 days, 20 honrs, 22 minutes; actual steaming time, 45 days, 0 hours, 23 minutes. At the Supreme Court to-day Richard Hicks, of Hawera, for forging a promissary note, was admitted to 12 months probation and ordered to pay £10, the costs of the prosecution.
