ROTORUA.
T)ie work of stopping tho second outlet of the Rotorua Lake, at Mouria, was interrupted through some natives blocking the main channel, which one is intended should be left open and made navigable, so as to admit the steam launch Alice to pass through to the Rotoiti Lake. Mr Blyth and party visited the works on Thursday, and swept away the obstruction created by the Maoris without any of the latter putting in an appearance. These malicious acts are of frequent occurrence in this neighbourhood, and there appears to be an unwritten law exempting Maoris from punishment for such deeds, the fruits of which we find in their open disregard for the laws of the land.
