PRESS OPINIONS,

The Economist, in an article referring to the recent postal conference at Adelaide, opposes Great Britain paying any portion of subsidies or guarantees required to secure the conditions in the cable rates, and also opposes Sir John Penders proposals, which, it considers, virtually bind the colonies to perpetuate a monopoly injurious to the Empire.
