THE AUSTRALIAN COLTS IN ENGLAND.
London, May 30. Kirkham will start for the Derby, but he has not a thousand to one chance of winning, unless the course is heavy. Mr White does not b-tak his colt for the event. It is considered likely that Kirkham will win tho Ascot Cup, and Narellan should bo dangerous in the Cesarewitch. Plutarch is constantly breaking blood vessels. Mr White's other colts have arrived, and will be landed on Monday. It is possible that Kirkham will be reserved for the Grand .Prize of Paris, to be run on the loth iost. SYDNEY TURF CLUB'S MEETING. Sydney, May 31. The soccmd day's racing in connection with the Sydnoy Turf Club's Mooting took place to-day at Rand wick. The following was the result of the principal event :-— The Queen's Birthday Cur, a handicap sweepstakes of 0.->ovs each, with 750sovs added ; second horse, lOOsovs ; and the third horse o.hovs from the prize. One mile and three furlongs. Eclipse, syrs, by Euclid—Deception, (Ist 31b (deal) 1 Insigna, 4y.s, Gstfllb (McAuliffe) ... 2 Magnus, 7st4lb(Doolau) 3 Twenty-five horses started. The betting at the post was : 4 to 1 each against Insigna and Swing, 0 to 1 Hilda, 12 to 1 Tartar and Magnus. Only a moderate start was effected, Swing and Tartar being the last to move. After traversing five furlongs Insigna had a slight lead, but on entering the straight Magnus was on terms with him, and Eclipse was close up. At the distance Magnus was done with, and Eclipse challenging Insigna gradually wore him down, and won by a leugth. Antelope was lust. Hilda was never prominent in the race. Time, 2m. 2uVis.
