♦ Tim IPaikulo Times Office, Wednesday. MARKET REPORTS. Tlio Now Z-Jtil:iu(l Loun and Mercantile Agency Company repoit, us under date : — Adelaide, April 18th. — Wheat: The demand for prime wheat continues firm, and we havo made several sales nt from 3s ('.."id t<> :•!< 7d per bushel. The market shows a slight inward tmidoncy m consequence of tha improved dumaiid for bran, and the bettor outlook on the European market. Under date 10th inst. our London house wired us as follows :—'" The market is depressed, Victorian wheat, to arrive, iron ships, is worth c.i.f. 34a per 480 lbs., February-Marc!) bill of lading, nominal value. Other quotation* unchanged." And under dato 15th inst. they wire as under :--" The market ir. slightly better. Victorian wheat to arrive, iron ships, is worth c.i.f. 34s 3d, nominal value, and Adelaidt) wheat 34s 9d per 480 lbs., February-March bill of lading. Other quotations are unchanged." Oats (duty 2s per cental) : There has been a littlo more enquiry, but the market is bare. Feed osits may be quoted at 2s 3d per bushel, in bond. —Butter (duty 2d per lb) : Owing to the dry weather the market for potted butter has tinned considerably during the past few days, and prime quality is now worth 'Jd to 9"id per lb, in bond. Dunkdin, April 21.— Grain. — Wheat: The market does not display very much animation, bv.t there is an idea prevailing that best milling wheat is more likely to improve in valuo than otherwise; and although buyers are disinclined to further advance on late current rates, this week they seem more anxious to secure all suitable lots offering, especially velvet and Tuscan (the latter in particular), than they ha-vo hitherto done. Medium quality, if only slightly tough, is almost unsaleable, either for milling or export, except at prices which could only be very unsatisfactory to growers. Nearly all the wheat suitable for feeding being now disposed of, ivnd hardly any coming forward, this class has an improved demand and must ere long command higher prices. We quote best milling Tuscan, 3s Id to 3s 3d; best do., velvet, 2s lid to 3s Id ; medium, nominal, 3s 7d to 2s 10d ; broken and inferior to medium, 2s to 2s (id (ex store).—Oats: Stocks are now assuming considerable dimensions, and consignments still coming to hand freely ; but the deiuaud has for tha moment alinoat collapsed. At auction this week only three small lots were placed out of a considerable number of bra catalogued, the top price liein" Is 4d for very good milling oats ; fair feed, Is Id to U 3kl. Hellers, however, are not inclined to push sales in the meantime at these'prices ; ac the same time shippers seem to be unable to operate to any extent at above those, and until their own supplies in Australia are somewhat reduced we can hardly look for any material change in the position. We quote prime milling, Is 5d to Is sid; short bright feed Is 4Jd to Is" sd, medium Is 3d to Is 4d (sacks extra, e.< store). Potatoes : The demand is confined to the requirements of the local dealers, and as the supply of really good Derwents is not in excess, the price for these continues firm; but for inferior and medium quality there is very little sale. We quote : Best Derwents, £3 10s to £3 12s 0-i ; medium, COs to 00s ; kidney, 30s to 45s per ton. Dairy produce : Prime salt butter has a fair demand at from 7d to 8d p».r lb., but medium and inferior U difficult to place, except as a sacrifice. Factory cheese is saleable, but at prices milkers are unable to accept, and prefer to ship.
