LATEST WELLINGTON NEWS.
(by teleguaph—press association.)
Wellington, Last Night. Tins Te Kooti appeal case has been adjourned till Monday in order that the Chief Justice, who is still in Wanganui, may sit. It is understood that the Sweating Commission will recommend that the statute in force in the States of America, giving a lien to sub-contractors upon the work on which they are engaged, should be enacted in New Zealand. They attribute the increase of youths' and girls in trade to a division of labour and use of machinery. It is probable they will recommend the appointment of boards of conciliation to deal with labour disputes. Several of the country' flax-mills are resuming work, local merchants having offered to purchase fibre at a price which will leave a fair margin of profit. The local branch of the Union has adopted the New Zealand tailoresses' log.
