MARKKT REPORTS.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report, as under date : — CiiiusTCHuncH, April 23,—Wheat.—The ■views of buyers and sellers being now more in accord, business has being done more extensively during the past week. Shipping is alsobeing vigorously proceeded with, both on buyers' and growers' account, so that it is to be hoped that tho firm tone of the Home market now ruling may be maintained. To-day's values are: Hunter's 2s Sd to 2s Sid, Pearl 2s 9d to 2s !Md, Tuscan 2s 10d to 2s lid f.0.b., sacks extra. Oats.— The market is entirely without animation, and some growers are venturing consignments to the Old Country rather than accept prices offering here. We quote values at—For prime milling Is Sd, stunt feed Is Gd to Is 7d, ordinary feed Is -Id to Is sd, ex store, sacks extra. Barley.— There is hardly any demand even for prime lota, as many ot the maltsters have supplied their requirements. Medium and inferior sorts are quite a drug. We quote prime malting 3s, medium 2s 4d to 2s (id, feed and inferior from lsOrl, sacks oxtra.—Dairy produce continues dull. Cheese is worth 3id to <ld ; butter (id to u'i;d per lb.—Urain sale.—At our monthly sale, yesterday, we submitted a fair catalogue of second-quality wheat, barley, oats, ryecorn, and cocksfoot. Wβ were favoured with a good attendance of the trade, and had a satisfactory sale. Wheat of above description made from 2s to 2s Od pev bushel, ex store; stout feed oats to Is 7d. I!.u-ley and cocksfoot were not in demand, and did not realise ownersi' reserves.
Melbourne April 23rd. — Throughout the past week a good demand was experienced for prime wheat, and some good parcels changed hands to meet millers' wants. Prices firmer again ; and should the London market harden it will doubtless influence quotations both here and in Adelaide. So far the present rise in Europe has not been sufficient to induce shipments hence, and therefore the demand has been of a purely local character. The weather is hardly so favourable to farming pursuits, the want of rain still being felt in some districts ; and this prevents that progress in field work which is necessary at this period of the year.—Wheat : A good brisk demand for prime new, whilst for old extreme rates offering. At our usual weekly sale to-day we placed medium milling at 3h (J.I, and we quote prime at 3s 8d tii 3s S.'.d.— Flour : More demand experienced and some fair export business reported. We quote country stone-made from ;t'S to £8 10a, and bakers' lots of townmade roller at £',) os.—pats : The heavy supply of inferior qualities h.u materially affected values of cumin- u fVeil .sort*.
