Hamilton Road District.
The annual meeting of tho ratepayers of the Hamilton Road District was held at tho office of tho Hamilton Road Board on Saturday last at 2 o'clock p.m. The following ratepayers were present ; Messrs Jones, Bettley, G>:ibble, Edgecumbe, Maunder, E'celby, Livingstone, and Qualtrough. The chairman (Mr Jones), read the notice convening the meeting. The minutos of the last annual meeting were read and confirmed. Balanck Shkgt.-—The chairman then informed the meeting that the balance sheet had not been audited, but that a resolution could be passed adopting it as read subject to the auditor's report. The balance sheet was then read as follows :— Balance sheet for the year ended March 31et, 1890. Receipts.—General rates, 1889 andlSDO, £03 14s 7d ; ditto, ditto, 1888 and 1889, £73 14s 4d; ditto, ditto, previous year's. £20 12s 3d ; Crown and Native Lands, Gs 10d; Government Subsidy on General Rates. £20 14s 10d ; Miscellaneous, £7 10s; Balance, 31st March. 1890, £44 lls 4d. Total, £231 4s 4d.— Expenditure: Balance April Ist., 1889, £2G 11s Id. Administration.—Salaries and allowances, £32 2s 7d; Office expenses and audit fees, £3 18s 9d; advertising and printing, £5 3s ; law costs, £G lGg; Bank interest, £4 Gs 9d. Public Works.—Roads and bridges (maintenance). £137 8s Sd ; interest and sinking fund account, £1417s ; refund, to collector, Is ; balance in hand, 31st March, 1890, ss; total, £231 4s 4d. It was uroposed by Mr Bettley, "That the balance-sheet for the year ending March 31st, 1S!)O, read by the Clerk, subject to tho auditor's report thereon, be adopted." Seconded by Mr Livingstone, and carried. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting. The first ordinary monthly meeting of the Hamilton Road Board was held on Saturday, 3rd inst. The whole of the members were present.—The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.—Mr W. Jones was re-elected chairman and Mr J. S. Edgecumbe was appointed clerk and collector to tho Board for the ensuing year.—Resolved : ■' That an advertisement be inserted in Thk Waikato TutKS notifying that all rates outstanding after the 31st inst. would be sued for after that date."—Resolved : "That Messrs Jonas and Livingstone inspect O'Brien'.s road ;it l'uketc and call for tenders for the necessaiy work, the tenders to bo in by tlio next meeting of the Board, June 7th, 1890."—Resolved : "That notice be inserted in Thk Waikato Times of the intention of the Board to make a rate of one halfpenny in tho £on the ratable value of all ratable property in the TFauiilton Road District for tho period ending March 31st, 1891, payable on tho Ist July, 1890.—The following accounts wore passed:—Geo. Exelby, £112s ; Thos. Jones, 9h.
