Taotaoroa Board.

The meeting of ratepayers of theTaofcaoroa Riding lapsed for want of a quorum. The annual meeting of the Road Board was held at the Criterion Hotel, Cambridge, on Saturday, at 11 a.m. The Returning Officer (Capt. McPherson) occupied the chair, and reported that Messrs H. J. Kallendar and J. Forrest had been re-elected members of the Board. There were present: Messrs H. J. Turner, S. Seddon, H. R. Brunskill and J. Forrest. Mr Kaliender was unanimously re-elected chairman for the ensuing year, and Capt. McPherson clerk, treasurer, and the person duly authorised to serve notices re the eradication of furze, etc., etc., under "The Public Works Act, 1882, Amendment Act, 1889." Mr Seddon was then voted to the chair, and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.

Tun Rate.—Mr Brunskill gave notice that ho would at the next meeting propose that a rate of }d in the £ be struck.—Mr Seddon did not think it would be necessary, but would not oppose it if it could be shown that it was required. He suggested that the members of the Board should meet and go over the roads of the ridinsr so as to ascertain what work really required to be dene.—Mr Bruuskill said some of the interior roads required attention. The County Council had taken the main road out of their hands, so they must turn their attention to the bye-roads.—Mr Seddon wished they had still the charge of the main road. There was some satisfaction in paying county rates when they had the spending of Ihe money on their own road.— Some of the members arranged to meet Mi Seddon and inspect thn roads as suggested. The Audit.—The Clerk reported that Major Tisdall had not yet audited the accounts, and therefore the balance sheet could not be signed by the Chairman. This being all the business, tho meeting closed.
