RAGLAN.

Church op England.—During the last few days the Rev. Mr Haselden has visited this district, and on Sunday last he held service at Ruapuke in the morning, Te Mata in the afternoon and at Raglan in the evening of the same day. At the latter place a large congregation had assembled to hear the rev. gentleman, whose services and visits here are very much appreciated from time to time, there being" unfortunately no resident Anglican clergyman residing here. On Monday evening the R? 7 - Hasleden favoured us with a descriptive lectute in the Raglan Schoolroom, upon the History of the Anglican Church in the Diocese of Auckland. The lecture was of a very interesting and instructive nature and was fnrther illustrated by a very numerous display of magic-lantern views bearing upon church history in Auckland .from the time when the Rev. Mr Mursden landed upon these shores in 1814 up to the present period. Flax.—As yet all the Raglan mills are still running, showing the stability of the Raglan trade. The Pelton wheel and the wrought iron piping for the same, belonging to tho flax-mill about to be erected at Ruapuke for Messrs Langley arrived by the last steamer and is being conveyed out there. ScnaoL Committee.—A meeting of the householders took place last Monday evening, but as very few attended the same, no election took place. Weather.—lt still continues very fine, with cold clear nights, and occasional light frosts in many inland parts of the district. Grass. —Everywhere the grass is springing up green and luxuriant after the late dronght. In places where the fire passed through all is in grass again. The new sown grass too is looking well. Winter oats are on too. Now there is good autumn feed for cattle and horses.
