The Waikato Times Ojhee, Friday. ' AUCKLAND MARKETS. Messrs A. Bucklaxd and Sons report as fellows :—At tho Haymarkot during the past week foddder has ranged from 2s Gd to 'M !)d the cwt ; oats. On Friday, the 18th, horse stock were in full uumbers, and met with iv good demand at full values. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle were more numerous than usual ; prices were without change from late markets. The store cattle advertised occasioned a large attendance. Grown steers sold fairly well, but yearlings to two-year-olds were at comparatively low prices. Fat cattle, in usual number, were lower than last week fully Is the 1001b ; prices for steers were at 15s the 1001b. Fat sheep, in moderate supply, were, if of choice quality, of better worth, but medium quality and lambs were scarcely so high as List week. Pigs, of heavier weight than have been for some time, met a good market ; this class of stock should now be forwarded for sale, but young pigs, yarded numerously, scarcely kept their late values. Prices for quiet dairy cows near calving ranged from £3.t0 £5 15s ; dry cows, 15s £2 ; yearling steers, £1 5s ; two-year-old steers, £2 to £2 Gs ; three-year-old steers, £3 5s ; four-year-old steers, £1 5s each. The bull calves from 12s Gd to G2s Gd each. SO oxen averaged £7 ; other 80 oxen, £G 10s; 25 cows, £3 5s each ; (iOO wethers, 15s ; 300 ewes, lis Gd each ; lambs, from 8s to lis Gd ; heavy pigs, from £2 14s to £4 7s (id ; weanera, 4s to 8s each. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Rkpokt.—Horse feed, seeds, grain etc.: The market has been inactive, without material alteration in value. We quote: Oats, 2s to 2s 4d per bushel; maize, 3s; bran, £4 per ton. Horses have been in better demand than for some time, and good weight-carriers have sold higher, and medium draught have found ready purchasers. There was an increased number of entries for sale by auction at the Durham Yards, and bidding was fast to those of a good stamp, and there remained an unsatisfied demand. Hacks sold at from £4 2s Gd to £22 10s ; light harness and medium draught, at from £5 10s to £1.4 10s. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, etc.: There was a fair catalogue at the Durham Yards on Tuesday. Really heavy ox hides were eagerly competed for up to 5d per lb ; medium, 3d to l[d: light aud cow, from l.kl to 2Ad ; calf skins, 3d to 4J per lb; sheepskins, 2s to 3s Gd each; lambskins, 3» 2d to 3s Gd ; pelts, Is to Is Gd. Wool: Inferior, Gljd per lb. Cattle: There has been increased requisition for nil descriptions, but prices did not advance accordingly, and there was a slight depression in the value of fat beasts. Average number were yarded at Newmarket on Tuesday ; competition throughout was good, although prices were slightly in favour of the purchaser for fat beasts as compared with the previous week. Some averages of steers were : £7 17s Gd, £G 14s lOd, £G 14s (id, £6 12s Gd, £5 10s, £5 7s (id. £4 17s Gd. Cows : £4 ss, L' 3 12s Gd, £3 10s, £3, £2 12s Gd. Sheep: A good many were brought forward, but there was little alteration in value. The Newmarket yards were fairly filled on Tuesday. There was steady demand at from Is Sd to 2s per 81b. Some good ewes realised lGs t)d each, while wethers sold at from 13s 3d to iGs 9d ; iambs, 7s to 10s Gd. Pigs : A moderate number were yarded at Newmarket on Tuesday, and sold freely at from 2d to 2£d per lb. live weight. Messrs Stone Bros.'
