LABOUR QUESTION.
(by electric telegraph.—copyright.) ' Chicago, April 23. Riots have occurred between the men on strike, and the the police were illtreated. Fifty ; of the strikers have been arrested. Vienna, April 23. Strikes are becoming universal throughout Austria, and in Moravia the Jews have been attacked. The Government workmen at Buda-Pesth have been granted a holiday on May Ist to enable them to take part in the labour demonstration. Berlin, April 24 The miners' strike in Silesia has lapsed. The Emperor William, learning that Socialist riots are expected on May Ist, intends to suppress all meetings, and will arrest persons taking part in gatherings in the streets. Washington, April 23. It is feared the labour demonstations in America will be a failure. The Indianopolis masters have conceded the terms demanded by the men.
Seventy thousand labourers will parade Chicago on May Ist in favour of the Eight Hours' Bill.
