: Dunemn, April 10.—Wheat: The market continues quiet, but steady. A moderately fair demand exists both for local trade requirements and shipping. Tuscan and white velvet; wis*) red straw, in suitable condition, find buyers at about equal to late rates. Good whole fowl wheat has a fair enquiry. The quantity available up to the present is not by any means heavy, so that, considering the moderate stocks held the position seems to be in favour of holders. We quote : Best milling Tuscan, :( 3 id to 3s 2d; beat do. velvet, 2s lOd to 3s ; medium, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; inferior to medium. Is <Jd to 2s 5d (ex store). Oats : Deliveries are now assuming larger dimensions, and tho demand is not particularly brisk, except at a reduction on last week s quotations. Only a moderate demand was manifested at the auctions on Tuesday, buyers continuing to purchase in anticipation of a considerable decline in values. We quote : Stout bright milling, Is ujd to Is Gd ; short bright feed, Is to Is 5d ; inferior to medium, Is Id to Is 4d ; extra good long Tartarians. fit for seed, Is Gid to Is 7d. Kidneys are unsaleable, excopt at very unsatisfactory prices. Quotations, are, for Derwents, best, 70s to 72s Gd; medium, GOs to G7s Gd; inferior and kidney, 30s to 50s per ton.
MEMiOUitXE, April 1-I.— Messrs Goldsborough, Mort and Co. report.—Since our last monthly report there is not much alteration to note in the market for breadstuffs. The demand for wheat by local millers has continued strong; but our export trade has been of the most limited description, owing to holders showing no disposition to realise, together with the impossibility on the part of shippers to enter into any fresh shipping engagements at the relatively high piices now ruling. Large stocks are known to be held in the country districts, but owing to the inferior condition of a considerable proportion of this season's wheat crop it i> almost impossible to estimate even approximately the actual surplus available for export, though under any circumstances the quantity must be considerable. Owing to a bountiful harvest, feed grains of all descriptions are this season very difficult of sale even at unusually low priccs; and, unless present prospects alter very materially, it is probable that large quantities will have to be held over. Wheat: All good shipping and milling samples have been sold somewhat freely during the month, at from 3s 7d to 3s 9d per bushel ; inferior to medium, of -.vhich there are large quantities, rule from 3s to 3s 3d. Oats: Through unusually large deliveries, prices have declined. We quote Calcuttas at Is lOd to 2s Id, and ordinary to prime stout feed at 2s Gd to 3s 2d. LONDON MARKETS.
