TE AWAMUTU MUSICAL SOCIETY.
A gunkiial meeting of the members of the above society v/as held after the usual weekly practice on 10th inst., for the purpose of electing new officers and committee for the ensuing 12 months. Mr G. A. Burgess was voted to the chair and called upon the secretary, Mr J. P. Vause, to read the report and balance sheet for the past term. The report, which was very satisfactory, shiiiwed the total number of performing members admitted since the formation of the society to be 55 and the number of honorary members enrolled six. The balance sheet shewed the total cash receipts including members subscriptions and proceeds of first performance) £24 17s (id, and expenditure £18 Is, leaving a credit balance on 31st March of £(i 10s Gd. The report referred to the kindness of Rev. Mr Boler in allowing the society the free use of his large room and piano. The report and balance sheet as read were adopted. Th« election of officers and committee was then proceeded with. Mr James Cottrell was unanimously elected as president of the society, Messrs J. 11. Mandeno and W. Taylor were re-elected vice-presidents, Mr (}. A. Burgess, conductor, Mr W. Patterson, pianist, and Mr J. P. Vause secreta»y and tresurer, these officers together with Rev. 9- Boler and Mr C. Long to form the committee. A vote of thanks was passed to the officers and committee for their services during the past term. It was resolved to start practices half-an-hour earlier during the winter months. The meeting terminated with a vote of thanks to the chair.
