As a result of the inquiry into the wreck of the Quetta, the Marine Board has formally notified the Board of Trade that they consider the pilot and officers of the vessel exonerated from all blame. The amount collected in aid of the sufferers by the late floods has reached £4300. Sydney. April 12. An old man named Taylor has been atrociously murdered near Wagga. His head was found, but there was no trace of the body. The murderer had apparently carried the head about for several days. A man named Smith has been arrested on a charge of committing the murder. A match between Stansbury and O'Connor has been arranged for £500 a-side. It will be rowed on June 23. H.M.s. Research has been ordered to proceed to Australia to join the surveying service. April 14. The trunk of the old man named Taylor, who was murdered near Warra, has been discovered. The man in custody on the charge of murder has made two unsuccessful attempts to commit suicide. Mr Gillies has approved of Sir H. Parkes' federal resolution for submission to various Parliaments. Melbourne, April 12. Cross actions have been commenced in the Supreme Court, Mr Horsfall having issued a writ; against Andrew Rowan, claiming £30,000 damages for alleged libel and slander. The case arose out \of a dispute with the directors of Goldsbrough, Mort and Cn., in January last. Mr Rowan has served a writ on Mr Horsfall. claiming £25,000 damages for libel, arising out of the same matter.

Owing to the shortness ot the time for practice, it is hardly likely that a Victorian team will proceed home to take part in the Royal Tournament. The Duke of Cambridge has invited six or twelve Victoriau riflemen to take part in the Royal Tournament, which opens on Juue Ist.
