ST. ANDREW'S GARDEN FETE AT CAMBRIDGE.
The above feta was held on Easter Monday in the beautiful grounds of Major Wilson at Waterside. It was not on as extensive a scale as those of former years, but, nevertheless, it was an undoubted success. There was the usual refreshment stall, .at which Mesdaines Willis, Wells, Hill, Hicks, and Selby presided, assisted by a number of young ladies, and' they appeared to be doing a good business. The chief attraction was the sen-saw dance by a number of children, who had been ably trained by Mrs Dickenson and Misses Wilson and Mackay. A species of grove had been made of fern trees and nilcau palms, and in this the youngsters executed their dance, threading in and out amongst the trees most prettily. The dance was given twice during the course of the day. The sports were managed by Messrs Garland, Light, and Dyer, and proved very successful. They comprised tilting at the ring, an obstacle race, potato race, putting the stone, throwing the hammer, etc,, besides numerous races for children. The Cambridge Band —augmented for the occasion— under Bandmaster Drury, enlivened the proceedings by their music, while Mr T. Wells was the " guardian angel" at the gate to see that no one went in without paying. We gave the financial result in our last issue, pud we think it a very satisfactory one.
