DISCOVERY OF THE BODY OF MR KELLOW'S CHILD.

■-■ ♦/' —— On Tuesday, December 24tb, a child of seven years of age, son of Mr Kellow of Ngaruawahia, was lost in the bush on the ranges opposite to that township, and although search parties scoured the ranges for some days after, they failed to discover fa'nyjjtrace'of the missing child and it was feared the boy had returned and had fallen into the-Waipa river and was drowned. On Sunday last, the remains of the missing child were discovered by two little lads named Hammond and Melville, quite close at? hand; and more than a hundred and fifty jterds from the track, just over the first rise which is crossed before entering the bush proper. It can scarcely be believed that the child could have been in this position during the time the search parties were out, even supposing that tha child had died from fright or exposure on the first night he was missing, indeed it has been stated that some of the parties out distinctly recollect passing over this very spot. The body was found lying face uppermost and it was not nearly in such an advanced stage of decomposition as would have been expected; the features were considerably drawn up but quite recognisable. It can only be concluded that in his wanderings the poor little fellow strayed back again, and it is sorrowful to realize that he had nearly reached home again when death overtook him.
