The Waikato Times Office, Friday. , CAMBRIDGE HORSE SALE. ; At Cambridge on Wednesday last. Messrs; McNicol and Co. held a very successful sale of horses, competition being brisk for anything young and sound in all classes. A i splendid lot of horses were offered, and altogether 140 herses were sold. Unbroken, draught colls brought from £7_los to £10; > draught horses from £7 to £10 15s ; good hacks from £7 to £20; aged hacks and Donies from £2 10s to £6 ss; scrubbers,, from £2 dowuwards. Five well-grown fillies, three years old by Cap-a-pie made' £15 a piece. Three colts by Anteros made £14, £15, and £15 10s respectively, and a filly of the same age made £15. A very, handsome two-year-old filly by Ingomar: fetched £15 Gs. The well-known hunter Gamecock made £20. Waggons, £14; and a light express £21. A taaiu of six hor.,es Waggon and harness passed in at the bid £|05, the owner wanting £180. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MAR-: KETS. jlkssms A. Bockland and Son's Weekly; Report.—Prices for fodder at the Hay-; market have during the past week been better than for some time. Loose fodder has ranged from 2s 9d to 3s 9d the cwt. ; maize in wholesale parcels on the wharf, 3s' the bushel! oats, 2s to 2a 2d ; grass seeds otall descriptions are selling freely. At the horse sale on Friday, March 28, a larger than usual supply met with a brisk demand. Good working horses ranged from £11 to £20 j spring carts, £10 to £15; sets of harness, £2 to £5 ; unbroken draught colts and fillies, from £0 15s to £9 respectively. On Tuesday hides and skins ware in usual supply, and without alteration in price. Choice heavy ox hides brought 3gd to 4sd ; light o.< and cow hides, from lid to the lb; tallow, 17s Od to ,18a 9d the cwt.; pelts, from 8d and upwards to 4s) 0d each; lambskins, Is 3d to 2s 9d each; wool, 6jd to 7£d the lb. At the Pukekoha cattle sale stock were in full nilmber; dairy cows at profit sold well ; other stock at late values. At Remuera; on Thursday useful dairy cattle at their profit were in good demand; prices vanged up to £6 eaeh. Dry cows were the only store cattle yarded; those were at low ; values, from 12s to 35s each. Fat calves plentiful; choice bred young calves kept their values, but many of those offered 'Were coarse, and those were lower in price. Fat cattle numerous; 350 head, mostly steers; of good quality, sold, and of these eight only were bought by the grazier. Prices for steers were steady at 15s. Good ' cows, 13s the 1001b. No store sheep offered; fat sheep in short supply, advanced in price from Is to 2s each ; wethers .brought from 13s to 17s : ewes, 7s to 12s Od each ; lambs in wool, 9a to 12s Od ; shorn, 6s to 8s each. Pigs numerous: well-bred porkers kept their values, but a draft of fairly good coarse pigs were low in price. Messrs Hunter and Nolan's Weekly Repoht.—Horse feed, grain, seeds, &c.: Quietness has characterised the market, and there has been no noteworthy alteration in value. Horses : The supply has again been short of requirements, and prices were in favour of the vendors. The number submitted by auction at the Durham Yards was scarcely up to the average, but bidding was spirited, and satisfactory sales made. We sold : Hacks, at froin £4 10s to £15; light harness horses, from £5 7s 6d to £22 10s ; medium draught, £4 12s Od to £1310s. Wool, hides, skins, &c. : A moderate catalogue at the Durham Yards on Tuesday met good competition. We quote: heavy ox hides, from 4d to 5A per lb; medium, 3d to iUd; light, lid to 2Jd; cow, ljd to 2Ad; calfskins, 3d to od per lb ; sheepskins, 2s (id to 'Is 7d each ; lambskins, 2s Od to 2s !)d ; pelts, 9d to Is Od; tallow, £14 per ton. Cattle : There has been a fair supply and steady demand, with little or no alteration. There was a moderate muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, and a good one at l'apakura on Wednesday. There was no alteration worthy of note in dairy or store stock, but pens of well-fatted steers realised higher prices than the previous week. Some averages of steers were: £7 10s, £0 10s, £0, £5 17s od, £5 15s, £:> lis, .£;> 2s Od, cows, £-110s, £1 sh, £3 17s Od. £3 12s Od. Sheep were penned at Newmarket on Tuesday in smaller numbers than usual, mid advanced in value in some instances 2s ft 1 per head; wethers sold at from lis to 15s each; ewes, 10j 0d to 12s 9d ; lambs. 8s to 10s. Figs : But few were yarded ; suckers sold at 5s Od to 13s; weaners, from 15s to 21s. each.
