HURRICANE.
(JiV KIELECTC TELEGRAPH.—COPYRIGHT). Sydney, April 3. News has been received from New Hebrides of severe weather having been experienced there. During the gale at Malicolo the labour schooner hlliza Mary, with seventy-nine souls on board, was wrecked. The first boat launched from the ill-fated vessel was dashed to pieces, and four Europeans were drowned. The other occupants of this boat were natives, and they were either drowned or killed by hostile natives on shore. Another European was drowned in attempting to swim ashore. One of the natives managed to fight his way through to the missionary station, and secured assistance for the remainder. Altogether forty-seven natives perished. The names of the Europeans drowned are:—Holt, Taylor, McDonald, Sinclair and Dibbs. Those who stuck to the wreck were rescued. The ketch Adam was wrecked at the same time and place, and three natives were drowned. The schooner C. Walker was wrecked at Locality Group, but no lives were lost. The majority of the victims of the wrecked labour schooner Eliza Mary were tomahawked by natives after reaching the shore.
