(BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. Auckland, Last Night. The direot steamer Tainiii arrived from London, to-day, and was berthed at the Queen-street wharf. Tho carters' dispute is still unsettled. Employers offered two guineas fruin the end of July next, but the carters refused. A vacancy in the City Council has been caused, in consequence of the resignation of Mr D. F. Evans. Heavy rains last night are reported throughout tho North Island, extinguishing the bush fires at Taranaki.
