A meeting of those interested in the formation of a branch of the Waikato Farmers Club for the Hamilton district,'will be held in The Waikato -I*Mes • buildings on Saturday. The attendance at this meeting will be an indication as to how far the farmers in this part of the district' realise the necessity for combination. All other trades and callings have their "unions.'-' It has been a standing charge against agriculturists that they lack the energy even to co-operate. Let us hope that by their action on .Saturday, the farmers in ;tKis part of the district, to be followed, we trust, by those in other centres, this stigma will be removed from the settlers of Waikato. Complaints as to the disabilities under which the agriculturalist labors, both political and commercial, aro continually hoard, unity of action will go a long way to bring about a hotter state of affairs, and the formation of farmers' clubs throughout the length and breadth of the colony, will provide an orga nisation for joint, and officient action. To make these clubs a success, the meetings should be regular, and well attended, and those wh« become members must make their attendance not just a matter of con]- i sequence or inclination, but rnusfej look upon it as a duty they ow© to the community at large, for does not the welfare of all other branches, of industry depend upon the success of those engaged in agriculture, the greatest industry. ~ We have a right lo look to the younger men to take this matter up in an earnest and devoted spirit,: and we make the strongest appeal, to them particularly, to join heartily in tho movement. *
