INQUEST ON MRS ADAMS.
(by telegraph.— press absociation.l Dunedin, Last Night. The inquest touching the death of Mrs Christine Adams, Taieri, was resumed at Dunedin yesterday. Dr. Catton, after detailing the result of the post-mortem, said if a premature labour was induced, tbat it gave the woman less chance of recovering , , and he thought any attempt to bring about premature hirth'was improper, and a gross error of judgment, Hβ was of opinion that if assistance had been at hand there would have been a chance of saving the child's life. Replying to a question whothev the treatment of Peters, who attended Mrs Adams, caused her death, Dr. Catton aaid it took away one chance of her recovery. Stewart L. Peters in evidence said, he was a perpetual student of Glasgow University, he uassed hn second professional examination, he described his treatment of the patient, and emphatically denied that he had done anything to induce premature birth. After ten mi'milca retirement the jury returned, and Uio foreman announced that four out of six agreed to a verdict of manslaughter against Peters. The coroner accepted the verdict, and'the accused was committed for tri il, hail hoinsr allowed in £200 and two sureties of £100.
