EXPERIENCES OF A WAIKATO FARMER.

Mr Geobgk Lrraic,' eif ?Ngaf'iuwahuy placed at our disposal some .correspondence iind account sales of a consignment of Hvfi tons of potatoes which he sent to Auckland in October of last year. The firm with whom he had this transaction wrote in October to the effect that although potatoes were "a''-shade quieter," they hoped to place his consignment in the course of a few days at £0 10s pur ton. Under date December 10th he received, his account sales, and in place of the £5 10i; per ton what was his surprise to find that tue highest price realised was 30s per ton, and that .forhulf a ton only ; two tons were sold at2o.s?par,ton, and the balance" at u.s per ton. The total amount realised for the five tons was £3 11s 7d, and after paying freight (£4 7s lid) and commission (5s Id), it left him £1 Is 8d iu debt, for which on February X/tb he received a pressing doruand for immediate,. payment.Qr. the usual recourse, that thp, master >wQuld be placed ,in- the liand of solicitor for collection,. Ifeis only, fair to/add tliatithere is not sufficient in the correspondence supplied to say how far Mr Little was misled in inducing him to forward the consignment, and it maybe that delays occurred after the receipt of the letter in October that would account for the potatoes arriving after the season had so far advanced aa to render the sale of old potatoes almost an impossibility.
