Grass seeds of all descriptions are now being inquired for. Holders should forward without delay. There has been no hide and skin sile this W epk, consequent on the death of Mr Geo. Ireland. At the horse sale on Friday horse st ick were in moderate number only, ami mostly old stagers. Piices were without ciange. Useful ftock brought from £6 to £10 each. At Remuera, on Thursday, dairy cattle near caNing were plentiful. Bidding was slow, and many were passed. Tnose sold from £3 5s to £4 5s each. st'iro c ittle, particularly quiet cows, in better demand. Fat cattle m usual number. Steers were better woith 6s each, but cinvs at iate values. Calves, short of requirements; prices in favour of the seller. S.ieep, in moderate supply, at late values; tvvo-tooth wethers, 10-; tour-tooth, lis oil e ich. Lambs, plentiful; store lambs, os to 6< each ; fat lambs, 7s tw 10< each. Pigs, scarce; porkers brought troin los to J4.s 0a 1 Hcnteb and Nolan s Weekly Report.—Seeds, horse feed, grain etc. Tr.ere has been an animated enquiry for s»ds, particularly cocksfoot, but very little his been brought forward, There has also bean an enquiry for other sorts, but no sales hive been made that would be a te<t ol v vine. OaU in steady demand at from Is 91t02s 3d per bushel. Bran, £4 per ton ; sharps £4 ; maize, 3s per bushel; pressed h ly, £3 to £5 per ton. Horses: The supply b is been an average one, and a fair demand his existed, without alteration in value. A'jout the usu'l,l number were submitted by auction at the Durham \ards on I'lld'.y. 'Bidding was fitful, but most of the lots were cleared at previous values. We quite: Hacks, £5 to £11 10s; light harness and medium draught, £4 10s to £12. Cattle: A small number were brought forward at the Newmarket Yards, on Tuesday. Dairy and store stock were unaltered in value, but there was a slight rise in fat stock, no doubt owing to the smallness of the market. Steer beef ranged from 123 to 15s 6d per lOOlbs ; cow, 10s to 12s. home averages of steers were : £7 lus, £0 17s bd £1312s 6d, £5 5s 9d, £5 ss; cows, £4 os, U 10- £2155, £2 10s. Sheep plentiful and better worth. Wethers sold at from 9s to 14s 6d : ewes, 8s tid to 12s 9d ; Jambs, from ' 5s 3d to 8s Od. Pigs scarce; medium weights, from 10s to 22s each. Last Night.—Wholesale butter, prima fresh, 9d ; second quality, Gd ; third, 41 ; cheese, good factory, 4Jd to 4j.fi; eggs, lOd ; bacon and hams, Off to »d ; Canterbury bacon, etc., cloth sides, oil ; equal numbers, B|d ; hams, 9jd; four, wholesale, local rollers, first quality, £9 5s ; second, £8 5s ; Southern oats ; 2s to Js 4d ; local wheat, Tuscan, 2s to 3s ; Southern wheat, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; maize, os ; local potatoes, £3 10s ; beans, 3s 3d ; onions, 3d per lb.
MARKET REPORTS. The Naw ZealNn&l Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited) report as ""cHBisTcnUROH, February 21.—Wheat: The extensive whipping recently to the Uld Country has somewhat depleted stocks ot old wheat, and there is a firmer feeling for prime qualities. In Australia it appears that rust has done more damage to the crupa than was at first supposed ; but as each colony reports a considerable exportable surplus, it is at least doubtful whether we shall to any es tent benefit by the loss of our neighbours. We quote Tuscan, 3< Id to 3s 2d ; Pearl, 2< 101 to 2s lid ; Hunter's, 2- 9i to 2-* 101, f.0.b., sacks extra. New crop is hardly qu.it.iMe yet. Old stocks rmge from Is Gd to 1.3d * new crop, Is 4d to Is 6d, cost ox stole, and sacks extra.—Store sheep: Two-tootn half-brads, mixed sexes, at lis 4d anu 11- ■ sd, which was looked upon as the best sale of the dav. For a client we sold t\vo-t intli half-breds at 10< 3I; full and broken mouth owes brought fr-un 4s to 7s; two-tooth from Sa 8d to Us 5d ; aged merino ewes, 2s U.i. A lino of forward-condiuoned merino wethers were bought in at 5s 9d ! crossbied lambs made 6s.
