EXTENSIVE ROBBERY.

Ddnoan Martin was committed fur trial to-day, 011 several charges of stealing articles of ironmongery, to the total value of nearly £50, from his employers, Messrs Mason. Struther, and Co, At the magisterial enquiry lasting all day, the evidence showed that Martin had been employed l>y the firm for three and-a-half years, two of them as foreman, at £17 10s per month. His pilfering extended over nearly 2 years, and whenever he wanted ironmongery he had helped himself from the stock. He was building a house at Sydenham, and abstractedl a boiler and other necessary fittings from the firm's goods. Mr Struther's suspicion* be came aroused, and on February lo'/J "® taxed Martin with taking Roods without paying for them, and he afterwards extracted a full confession from Martin, and handed him over to the police. Uttier charges are pending against accused.
