McNICOL AND CO.'S SHEEP FAIR.

Messrs McNicol and Co.'s sheep fair at Ohaupo on Thursday brought together the largest attendance of tha public that have up to this time ever congregated at this centre, and notwithstanding the continuance of the dry weather the bidding _was spirited, and the sheep brought full prions, Stood stock of all descriptions selling readily. For good, sound young sheep the demand was most active. It was variously estimated that from 12,000 to 14,000 sheen passed through the auctioneer's hands during the day, those passed during the sale being disposed of privately after the sale. The Mangatutu wethers were quitted in one line at 9s. A large number of longwool and merino rams were brought forward, the demand not equalling the supply. Among the stud sheep we noticed good representatives from the well-known flocks of Messrs Storey, Seddon, McNicol, Banish, Wallace, and others. The highest price paid was five and a-half guineas for a twotooth Lincoln ram, bred by Mr Wallace and purchased by Mr Bosanko, of Te Awamutu. Prices for the othfers ranged from this down to two guineas, the average being about four guineas. Mr MoNicol's stud ewes were withdrawn, the prices offered not reaching the reserve. A detailed account of tha sale will appear in our commercial column next issue.
