London, February 24. Lord Brassey will move in the House of Lords, on Friday, that a naval reserve should be established in Australia. In the House of Commons the debate on free education was resumed by Mr J. Morley, in the absence of Mr Gladstone. He mentioned that endownments were promised to the Catholic schools, but withheld from that Church and dissenting schools, where the latter educated children of other sects. This statement caused much comment. The Clan-na-Gael Society is renouncing violence. Members of the Society are being expelled from Camp No. 20. The Australian wedding gift has been presented to the Prince of Wales. He expressed his gratification at receiving the souvenir, showing the great sympathy of the Australian colonies. Soi'lA, February 24. Eussia is demanding from the Bulgarian Government payment of all arrears. The Landes Bank of Vienna has offered the Government a loan of 18,000,000 francs. Zanzibar, February 25. It is reported that a German expedition is to be sent to reconquer Wadelia from the Mahdists. Berlin, February 24. The results of the elections to date show 84 members of the " Cartel" party and 90 of the Centre have been returned. Others are unchanged. There will be 151 second ballots.
