HON. JOHN BRYCE AT NGARUAWAHIA.

Last evening Mr Bryce met the Waipa electors at Ngaruawahia, when there was a vory good attendance, the Fublio Hall being well filled. Amongst those present were Messrs G. F. Dickesoa, Burnett, Fitzpatrick, Rathborne, T, Davids, Latham Donney, Vining, E. B. Cox, T. H. White, Littlewood, Black, Washer, Martin, and Laurie, Mr Fitzpatrick on the motion of Mr Dickeson, seconded by Mr Starr, was voted' to the chair; and in a few .words" introduced Mr Bryce, who on rising was received with loud cheers. .

' The address delivered by Mr Bryce was similar to those already published in these columns, the subjects touched on being Native Affairs, Education, Railways, Retrenchment, and the Property-tax. During the address' there were frequent outbursts of cheering, clearly showing that the speaker was in sympathy'with his audience. At the conclusion of his address, Mr Bryce said that'ho would be in .Ngaruawahia until 1.30 p.m. on Tuesday (today), and should anyone desire to draw his attention to any matter of local concern, he would gladly consider it.

There being no questions asked, Mr G, Dickeson moved a vote of thanks and confidence in Mr Bryce as their representative.

This was seconded by Mr Davis, and on a show of hands was carried unanimously.

In replying Mr Bryce said that it was exceedingly gratifying for him to receive this resolution. He was in a different position to a candidate addressing his constituents previous to an election, and he thought passing a vote of confidence in that case was a violation of the ballot system, but with:l»ira it was different, as he was now their member. At every meeting where he had addressed the electors he had received similar votes of thanks and confidenee, and he felt it very deeply. A vote of thanks to the chairman, proposed by Mr Bryce, and carried by acclamation, closed tine me°t'ntr. .
