The Waikalo Ti<ntt Offles, Friday. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Messhs A. Buck land and Sons' Weekly Report.— At the Huymarket 'during tho pant week oaten sheaves have been in full supply, and have brought from Is (hi to 2s the cwt; meadow hay in small loads has been bettor worth. At the hide and skin Bale on Tuesday, heavy hides in condition brought from to 5Jd, but medium and light weights were under 3d; cow hides, ljd to ; calf skins, 3Jd to the lb; tallow, 17a and 18s (jd the cwt; sheepskins and pelts from Is to ss; lambskin*, Is 7d to 3s 2d each, Several bales and parcels of wool ranged from OJd to !)jd the lb. At Waiuku on Saturday a smaller than usual muster of cattle sold but moderaloly well, but many sheep were yarded and sold satisfactorily; Ewes from 6a 6d to 3s; rams, 15s to 60*; lambs, 7s 6d each. At the sheep fair on Tuesday ewes were yarded in numbers fully equal to the advertisements, but were mostly aged culled sheep. Of the 9000 sold not more than 1500 ware young sheep. Prices were good throughout. Young 6wes from two to six tooth brought from 9* to 10< 6d; culled longwooled ewes, 5s to 8s; half-bred ewes, 3s 6d to 6s; Merino ewes, 2s to 3s Gd each; longwoolled wethers, 9s tr. 12s 6d each, and, with the exception of 200, all yarded were sold. Tho rams yarded were almost confined to the Lincolns, and they were mostly of superior quality. The prices obtained by individual breeders can scarcely be looked on as indications of their quality, for the buyers were mostly satisfied when about one-half were sold, and prices fell in consequence of the number panned. Prices for good Lincolns ratigod from £2 to £9. Leicesters were inquired for, but not exhibited. Romney Marsh did not sell, and Downs or black-faced sheep of all breeds were at low values; two-tooths from one to two guineas, and aged rams, of all kinds, worth <• few shillings only. At Kemuern, on Thursday, dairy cows were in limited number and fair enquiry. Store cattle: More numarous than usual, at late values. Fat cattle plentiful. One draft of 40 oxen withheld from the auction. Prices equal to finish of last week's sale were at 14s for steers, 10s for cows of prime quality. Fat sheep in full numbers, and kept last week's values. Wethers, ljd to 2d ; ewes, ljd the Id. Lamhs in short supply, were better worth, and brought from 7i to 10s (!d each. Porkers in demand at full value, and store pigs were also in request. Some averages were : 8 oxen, £6 14s ; (>7 oxen, £G 9s; 20 steers, £6 2s; 8 -leers. £5 2s (id ; 13 steers, £5 :18 steers, £5 7s 6d ;19 cows, £3 15;; 6 cows, £3 12*; 200 wethers, 12s ; 250 mixed sexes, 9s 6d ; 200 wethers, 10s 3d ; 120 wethers, hosigets, 10s ; 7(5 lambs, 9s ; 10 lambs, 9s Gd ; 30 lambs, 8s 9d each.
Messrs Huntkr and Nolan's Weekly Jtooiu , .—Horse-feed, grain, seed, &c. Supplies have been ample, hut very little business lui3 been done. We quote : Oats, Is 9d to 2e 4d per bushel; muize, 2s 3d to 2s 9d ; bran, £3 10s per ton. Horses : Owing to the Jubilee holidays no auction sales were held, but a few chauged hands privately at quite the previous week'i values, and a few good hacks fully realised vendors' • expectations. Wool, hides, and skins: Moderate quantities wore pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday, and competition was steady. We qnote: Ox hides, 2d to 3Ad per lb; cuw, ljd In 2d ; calfskins, 2.fd to 4d per lb. Cattle: The market lus revived much after the holidays, and a demand has existed for all descriptions at prices slightly in favour of the seller. There was an average muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, and rather more than that on Wednesday. Competition wan stiady for all descriptions. Dairy and atom Htock were nnnltered in value, and there waa an advance on the previous week's rate for fat stock, some averages of which were: —Steers. £B 4s, £G, £5 12s fid. £5 2* 6d, £4 4* Gd : cows £4 7s M, £4 ss, £3 10s £3 ib 6.1, £2 17s 6d. Sheep: Tho supply has been sufficient for requirement. A Steady demand has existed, and the competition at Newmarket oo Tuesday was good. Wethers sold at from 10s Od to 13a 6d ; ewes from 9« to 12s Gd ; lambs, from 6s to 9i 9d each. Pigs : Very few yarded. Messrs Stone Bkos. AUCKLAND PRODUCE MARKETS. (by TELEGRAPH. —OWN correspondent). Auckland, La<it Night.—There are but few changes in quotations for produce. In farm and dairy produce, recent alterations include a rise in butter, first quality, of from 7d to 8d wholesale, and eggs from lOd to Is. The flour market is on-lllered.
