RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT CAMBRIDGE.
Yesterday.—[Before Capt. Jackson, Esq., R.M., and t!>e Mayor. | Assadlt upon the Observer-man.— James Drury was charcred with assaulting Reginald Bernard Fitzpatrick, on January 17th. Defendant pleaded guilty under ii'enuiating circumstances. Complainant is stone deaf, and the oath had to be written out for him to read. Several times the Court was convulsed with laughter, as the Magistrate would ask si question to which the complainant replied before it had been written, ÜBuilly with a comical result, us he invaribly mistook the nature of the question. Very voluminous evidence was taken wbich occupied the greater part of the day, and the result was a verdict for the complainant for £1 and 28s costs. The Court cautioned the complainant to be more careful how he attacked the ch imclers of people about whom he should happen to write. AitTHim Bach v. Jko. Kent.—Claim £1 14s. No appearance of defendant. Judgment for amount clainind ami costs (sh. A. Bach v. S. G. Popplewkll.—Claim £2. Judgment for amount claimed and 7s costs. T. Wells v. M. O'Mkaghkr.—Claim £8 13s. Defendant write admitting the claim. Judgment for amount claimed with £3 Is costs. I
