KIRIKIRIROA ROAD BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Kirikirirua Road Board was held at the Waikato County Council Chambers, Hamilton East, at 2.30 yesterday afternoon. There were present: Messrs Primrose (chairman), Coates and Maclean.

The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

Tkajiwav.—Messrs Bartrum and Preston wrote, requesting permission to lay a tramway across the main road near Taupiri, so as to allow them to get their flax to the river for the purpose of washing it. It was decided to grant the permission applied for, on the conditions that tho tramway be laid to the satisfaction of the engineer, and that it be at once removed should the Board consider it necessary.

Funds.—The Clerk reported that at present the Board was in credit to tho amount of £87 Hμ llil, but this .amount included £S0 13« 7d subsidy. He stated that there would be considerably over £100 to come iu in rate?, and that notwithstanding the narrow margin allowed in the estimates for extraordinary expenditure, there would probably be a small surplus at the end of tho financial year, March 31st.

Complaint.—The members complained that the engineer had not carried out the instructions of the Board at the December meeting with reference , to carrying out works ut Taupiri and Hinton's Gully, Piako road. The clerk was instructed to write to the engineer requesting him to take these works in hand at once.

Mangawhara Road.—Mr Walsh wrote calling the Board's attention to this road at the end of the Waikato Land Associations properly, and suggesting that the swampy portion be clayed, otherwise during the winter minths it would be im-pa-ieable. Mr Walsh attanted personally, and stated that the Land Association were going to fonce in the roads running through their property , , and if this were done and the above mentioned road left in its prosent state, the settlers at the back would be fenced in, and unable to get to or from their properties without trespassing. Hβ had done about three miles of clearing on this road himself, and he thought the Board might cmnply with his request. Mr Maclißao said that the length of road requiring claying was about a mile, and the cost would be not less than £GO. The matter was left in the hands of the chairman and Mr MacLein to inspect the road and report at next meeting. Payments.—The following accounts were pissed for payment, freisrhl , -, £1 !)s ; T. W.
