[JJY TELEGRAPH.—rHUSS ASSOCIATION'.] CHRIBTOHURCH, Last Night. The fonnal business of the Wesleyan C inference was ln-oiiglit to a close last night, when it was resolved to hold the next session in Auckland. A further resolution was passed, expressing; thankfulness for the past progress, and hop& for more success in the future.

•Joseph Deutia. 73 years old, was thrown from his horse this morning on the Ferry road, and was killed.

DUNEDLY, List Night. A cablegram received from Mauritius, confirms the advance in the price of sugar, of £2 7s par ton.

A deputation of Shag Valley and Dunbsck settlers was introduced to the Land Board to day by Mr John MoKenzie, asking that two runs, which it had recently bsen decided to sell, should lie thrown open for settlement in s-nall graxiug runs. The deputation also presented a petition signed by 100 bomjide settlers, expressing willingness to take up runs as suggested. The Board resolved to recommed the Government to withdraw the runs from sale, saying they were unaware when the previous decision was arrived at that such a strong adverse feeling existed in the district.

Satisfactory entries have been received for the Exhibition regatta. For the scullers race Mafterson, Stephenson, and Palamountain have entered. There are seven crews entered for the Champion Fours, including Waitemata, Invercargill, Port Chalmers, thrte Otago, Duuedin. I'm- the Champion Yacht Race Pastime, Mohanga, (Akoroa), Lender, Ripple, Anonym-i (Duuedin), White Wings, (Port Chalmers.)
