AN iNriULriNi; Luttki:.—The following .•xtraoniin.iry letter had been received by the Chairman :—" Oambiidge West, Deeeoiber 7tli, JSBII. —Sir.—I am sorry that 1 have again t:. > |.r01.,--,t against being gi atuitou..!y insulted by your Board, and if it Continues I shall feel obliged to send in a representation to head quarters. I most decidedly object to being threatened with legal proceedings for the negligence of your own officer. You are doubtless aware that it is impossible for me to attend your office personally on Tuesdays or Fridays. The money was, however, duly sent on Tuesday. l!)tli November, and the office was cloned, although it was before three o'clock in the afternoon. The time previously my father had to wait about an hour. If you think people can travel six miles and then waste time liko this in order to pay their debts, you very much miscalculate colonial finance. In reply to your notice, I beg to say that I will pay the rent duo when convenient, and you may take legal proceedings at your own risk. —Yours, If. B. Hyatt. Mr Wells, chairman of Domain Board, Cainbiidge."—The Clerk said only the usual notices hid been sent to Mr Hyatt. He always attended at tlie office on Tuesday's and Friday's, and, with the exception of an hour for lunch and a little time during which he went to the bank or post-office, he remained in the office. It would be an easy matter for Mr Hyatt to enclose the money in a letter, and then his valuable time would not be wasted.—Several of the members spoke most strongly of the impertinent tone of the letter, and one of them suggested that it should bo forwarded to the Education Board as a specimen of composition by one of their headmasters. It was also pointed out that Mr Hyatt could easily free himself of the nuisance of receiving the notices by keeping to the terms of his agreement, and pay his rent quarterly when due.—lt was resolved that Mr Hyatt be informed that his notice to pay up was the usual one sent by order of the Board to all defaulters. That he was over three months in arrears when the notice was sent; and, further, that he (Mr Hvatt) had requited the indulgence of the Bonn] by sending them his grossly insulting letter. (We learn the rent has since been paid). Accounts.—The following accounts were passed for payment:—T. Wells, £3 !)s yd : W. Snuter and Co., £3 13s lOd ; clerk, £4 3s 8d ; G. L.mb, 1(K Annual Meeting.— I The annual statutory meeting will be held next Monday.
