TE AROHA.

Town Boaud.— A special meeting of this Board was held on Saturday evening. Present: Corns. Gallagher (in the chair), Heathcote, Lipsey and Mill*. Mr Pavitt, engineer to the Board, was also in attendance. The minutes of last ordinary «ud a spocinl meeting were read and confirmed. A letter from the Clerk of the Piako County Council re takinpr over the main road was read stating that the matter will come before the Council at their meeting on the 21st inst. The following accounts were presented \V. Hetherington, £8 ;F. Pavitt, £llßs9d;R. Michael, £1 18s Gd; total, £'1117s 3d.—Com. Lipsey enquired if there was sufficient money to meet the accounts, and being answered in the affirmative, moved that the accounts be passed for paymant.—Com. Heathcote seconded. Carried.—Com. Gallagher then moved that a rate of (id in the £on all ratable properties in the township be struck. It stated that the rateable value of the properties is £3,225, which would produce £80 12s (id. — Com. Mills seconded the resolution, which on twing put to the meeting was declared carried. —Com. Mills then moved "That the late be advertised in the Te Aroha Times."—Seconded by Com. Gallagher.— Com. Lipsey : Where is this paper printed ? —Com. Mills : In Cambridge.—Com. Lipsey opposed the motion, and proposed as an amendment that the rate be not published in any paper. The amendment not being seconded the motion was put and declared carried. Com. Lipsey shortly after this left the meeting, but before doing so said he thought they had done a wrong thing.— Com. Heathcote moved that Mr Pavitt be appointed valuator at a remuneration of £3 3s. —Seconded by Com. Mills and carried. Mr John Daro was re-appointed collector of dog rates. This concluded the business.
