TENNIS.
Hamilton v. Ngaruawahia. The return match between the members of the above Tennis Clubs was played on the Hamilton Court on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in a win for Hamilton by several games. In addition to the matches between the gentlemen, there was also one between lady members from each club. The Misses Rathborne (2) represented Ngaruawahia aud Misses Newell and Biggs Hamilton. These games proved very exciting, and were watched with great interest by the spectators present. After a hard struggle, the Ngaruawahia ladies msiuuged to win by one ganio. The first set was won rather easily by Hamilton by six games to three, but in the second a similar victory was scored by Ngaruawahia, which equalised the scores, the games standing nine all. In the third set Hamilton led off, but the Ngaraavvahia representatives were not to bo denied, and the score stood at five all, and the deciding game proved very close and exciting, vantage being scored no less than four times. After a splendidly-contested game, which was allowed by all present as being the best ever played by ladies on the Hamilton Court, the Ngaruawahia ladies won by a stroke. At the finish of the game the players were loudly applauded. The totals were : Ngaruawahia, 15 ; Hamilton, 14. Tea and cake and strawberries and cream were bestowed with an open hand during tho afternoon by Mefidames liume aud Saudea.
