Cambridge v. Taupiri

TUB above match was played (it Hamilton on Sidney Square, and resulted in a win fnr the Cambridge team on the first inning* by 17 runs. This is u most unlooked for triumph, as tho Cuntnbs could only muster eight men, while their opponents put a full team in the field. Tho victory wa3 solely due to the grand stand made by the Cambridge skipper (Mr 11. Wilson), who went in first, and nearly succeeded in carrying out his bat, for tho grand score of 70. Wo think Mr Wilson must have been disgusted witl&the way the game is supported in Cambridge, and, as a last effort to shame the players, decided to do all the work himself, for, ill addition to tho above Brand score, he bowled eight of his opponents and caught another, and then, to keep the matter in the family, his younger brother disposed of the remaining man. The Wilson's were, what is locally termed, "on tho job " ; indeed it looked more like Wilson v. Taupiri than anything else. Shaw was the only other man to get into double figures in tho first innings ; but in the second both Wilsons succeeded in doing so. For Taupiri, Cox compiled a carefully-played 22, the next highest being Stewart with 8. Below we give tho scores and bowling analysis
