HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

An* adjourned special meeting of the above Council was hold in the Council Chambers at 7.30 p.m. last night. Present: The Mayor (Mr W. Jones, in the chair), Cm. Tippen, Day. Salmon, Wood, Davey, Parr and Scott—The Mayor said that this was an adjourned meeting to elect a Hospital representative.—Cr. Tippen asked !>«w che meeting had been adjourned as he held that the tnenting on the 27th instant, lapsod and that a meeting could not be adjourned after it has lapsed, and all the business that would be done to-night would be illegal, and that there is no meeting here to-night. —The Mayor ruled that the meeting would bo hold, and stated that as they had failed to elect a representative on the day fixed they had met to-night to consider what steps should be taken.—Tho Clerk read the portion of tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Act bearing on tho position as it stood at present.—Crs. Tippan and Dey here withdrew, and Cr. Salmon loft with permission of the Mayor.—Cr. Scott moved " That this Council having on the 27th inst. failed to elect a representative on the Waikato Hospital Board as prescribed by the Act, beg to submit for Hia Excellency the Governor's approval the name of Mr E. T. Davey, whom the Council nominate as their representative on the said Board.— Seconded by tho Mayor and carried.—Cr. Scott moved that this resolution be telegraphed to His Excellency the Governor,— Seconded by the Mayor and carried.
