A CYCLIST MISTAKEN FOR A BIRD.

A KKi-OHTiiK on Monday, Soptumber Kith, interviewed Mr George a London cyclist, who lies at Chester seriously injured by gun-shot wounds received under extraordinary circumstances. Mr Scdgwick, who is 33 years of age, and in business as a draper, left homo on Thursday week on a cycling tour. Ho had nearly reached Market Draton, Staffordshire, at 4 o'clock on the following afternoon, when, passing a party of sportsmen, in an adjoining field, he fell from his machine, riddled with shots. Stunned and bleeding he climbed up an embankment and saw the party lowering their guns in his direction. He exclaimed, " For God's sake, if you are Englishmen, don't shoot mo again," and then fell clown the bank. They were SO yards off, and in his opinion they had mistaken his white silk cap, just visible over the hedge, for some bird. He complains bitterly of the lack of attention shown him, as he did not receive surgical aid till his arrival in Chester by train about nine o'clock. It was then found that nine shots had entered his back, one his arm, ami four or five lodged in his head. One shot penetrated his jaw and knocked out it tooth. The injured inuu is recovering slowly.
