COLONIAL DEFENCES.
(BY EIjECTBIC TKMOSKAH-γ. —COPYRIGHT.) Lokdon, November 29. I.V the course of an interview with a representative from the Pall Mall Gazette, Admiral Fairfax referring to colonial defences, expressed the opinion that a good deal had been done by Victoria and New Zealand, Queensland had been apathetic, and New South Wales was deserving of oensure for tardiness in regard to placing the defences on a proper footing. He believed that if New South Wales joined the Federal Council, the latter body would he able to develop a federal system of defence.
