A WOMAN'S SUICIDE AT NIAGARA.
A jjesi'Atcii from Niagara Falls, dated the sth September, reports that an unknown woman jumped into the liver and passed over the Falls shortly before noon on that day. Tho woman, who was dressed in dark clothes, was of light complexion, with auburn hair, and about 25 years of ago. She was seen walking carelessly towards the Niagara river, a short distance abovo Prospect Point. Soon after reaching the river she was observed to toss her hat and parasol iuto I the water, and a moment later she [ glanced hurriedly around and deliberately leaped into the Niagara Rapids. The mighty water caught her up like a straw and bore her rapidly towards the Amorican Falls, head first, her arms swiuging in the air as she approached the brink of the falls. Her face turned for a moment towards Prospect Point, not 20£r,. away. She was evidently up to this in full possession of her mind aud uninjured. Just as she was passiug over the Falls one arm was raised, apparently to make a motion—eyes wide open. One moment of awful suspense, and the body was borue from view by the rushing water. The captain of the Maid of the Mist shortly afterwards saw the body floating on the still water between tho American Falls and Canada Free Park, but before /he boat could reach it tho body had disappeared from sight.
