Auckland. Friday. _ 'L'hk only news to hand so far re the Puhipuhi crushing is contained in a cypher message from Air Kasterbrook Smith at Waiorongomai, reporting a return of 7t>4 oy.s. This is rewarded as a bulk assay, and if so may undergo reduction in smelting. Loral shareholders are still _in doubt whether it means the production of the whole three tons or only one ton. They say Mr Smith was instructed to wire result of tho crushing of tho first ton of richest stone. This week's Advocate declares that Puhipuhi comprises 25 miles of reetin;? country easily accessible from and that Inspector Gordon pronounced the ore not to be refractory. The Advocate urges the immediate proclamation of the field. All the tests yet made give uniformly rich results.
