WAIKATO PRIZE CATTLE.

The following remarks <m the. fat bullocks exhibited at the OlirUcliurch Show by Messrs McXicol and Hunt-, arc made, by the Canterbury Weekly Press:—lt is :i long time since the ln-st bullock of the Canterbury Show lias been beaten by an outside exhibitor, but this your three Herefords, bred by Mr A. Cubbins. Fi:ik<-, and Mr K. Ferguson, Cortoti, Waikato, were shown by Messrs McXiool and Hunt. 'L'he first prize one was a well-grown beast, with plenty of quality, but the. second pri/.tslaker was a mountain of tat, with a tableland of back, on which, a spectator remarked, a hornpipe could lie danced. It is stated the weight of Mir latter before leaving Auckland was '27 J: cwt. Tn the various classes) for fat cat lie, steers, cows and heifers, Messrs J. Fergnssnti, S. (rarforth, J. l)eana, W. Henderson and H. Pannett exhibited sonic grand specimens of the grazier's art, for it is not supposed that the fat had been piled oil in any other way. The show of fat cattle would, a "new chum" informed our reporter, do credit to Smithfield. It is perhaps enough that it does credit to New Zealand, and visitors to this day's show should not omit a visit to this part of the cattle yards.
