On her next trip she will bring a troupe ot Rarot.onsra singers and dancers for the Jubilee Exhibition. Tacaccade, Governor of Tahiti, is also a passenger by the Richmond.
At the Board of Education to-day, ten •applications for the inspectorship of schools vice Mr Fidler re.siened, were received. This number was reduced •.o two, Mtssrs Crowe and Home. Mr Crowe was appointed. Tlie number of entries received for junior scholarships were as follows:—Class A : Boys, 50 ; girls, 52. Class B : Boys, 42 ; girls, 39. Class C : Boys, 8 ; girls, (5. Class D: Boys, S; girls, 7. The Court of Appeal gave judgment today in the case of Patterson and Fairlcy v. Commissioner for Crown Lands, under the Forest Trees Planting Act, in which the Government contended that only 250 acres could be purchased with each land order, aud in no case could a land order be exercised to amount to greater than £500. The Court gave judgment on all parts for plaintiff, and ordered the Government to pay costs on the highest scale. This judgment rules all laud orders issued in the colony under the Forest Trees Planting Acts.
