Wasteneys occupied the chair, and on the platform were the Rev. Father Kehoe, .Messrs .Ferguson, Mills, O'Keitfe and Burns. The address of the del eg ate occupied nearly an hour, and contained nothing particularly dillerent to that which he is reported in your last issue to Imo said on the Irish question at Hamilton. The speech, which was disappointingly mild, was listened to without any interruption, and at the close a committee consisting of Sir W. Wasteneys, Messrs 0. Uallagher and Burns, ;vas appointed to receive subscriptions towards assisting the ovicted Irish tenantry. Sir T. Ksmonde returned to Auckland by train on Saturday morning. Town Board Mkkting.— The monthly meeting which should have taken place on Saturday evening, was postponed for .1 week. BAKtiK Mishap.— Just before despatching a barge with 10 tons of the Wniorongomai bullion, it was discovered she was in a leaky state, and subsequently sank in the rivor. The bullion was re-landed and the bargo floated again. Fuumtukh Sale.—Mr >L Craig sold on Saturday tho household furniture of Mr W. .7. White, draper, who has given up business here. Mr S. Hetheringt >ti, of the Thames, will open up shortly in tho premises lately occupied by Mr White, with a large stock of drapery goods.
