Yestehday.— (BeforeCapt. Jackson, R.M.) TuKiiii being two Maori cases, Hakariwhi te Purewai, one of the native assessors, also sat upon the Bench. Several undefended cases -.vere disposed of, and several, in which Mr Wells was concerned, were adjourned in consequence of his indisposition. W. K. Cautku v. W. N. Skaranckk.— Claim 255. Mr McVeigh for plaintiff. This was a charge of 15s for two day's horse hire and 10s for coach fare to Oxford. The horse had been hired by a licensed interpreter, who told plaintiff to charge it to defendant. Defendant repudiated the liability. Judgment for plaintiff for 10s, and costs lGs. W. Moisi.ey v. J. S. Masteus.—Claim 10s for balance of account of a pair of shoes. Plaintiff was non-suited after a deal of conflicting evidence had been taken, both parties declaring that the other was telling lies. Te Kawau v. Horn Hauxana and Others.—Claim £5 15s for the unlawful slaughter of four pigs. Mr McVeigh tor plaintiff, Mr Hally for defendant. The natives reside at Okuia, near Matamata, and a tangi was being held when the pigs were killed, for which the plaintiff now claimed. The defendants denied that the pig.s belonged to plaintiff, and, after voluminous evidence had been taken, the case was adjourned to next court day, the whole afternoon having been occupied by the evidence for the plaintiff.
