Mr Alex. Aitkbn's Market Report for the week ending November 2nd. —Auction sales for the past week have been largely attended, with spirited competition for most lines. On Tuesday and Friday the usual produce and poultry sales were well supplied with all kinds. On Wednesday a sale of Island fruit was held, when an unusually large shipment of fruit was quitted at good prices. In the poultry department the supply of all kinds was larger than usual, and prices all round were higher than last week, roosters and ducks being greatly in demand; for these, prices were particularly high. Pigs in good supply, and prices satisfactory. Potatoes, old, very plentiful, and demand very limited, except for Waikatos, which have been short of requirements. New potatoes: Supplies are slightly in excess of demand ; kidneys have sold well, but other sorts are low. Onions: None in the market. Vegetables of all kinds are in very short supply, and prices high. Wheat: Several lines of milling, amounting to 630 sacks, have been placed privately at from 3s Id to 3s 2d per buuhel; fowl wheat is in good request at from 3s to 3s 2d. Maize in fair demand at 3s Id ; barley slow of sale at 2m 9d ; chaff, bran and •harps quiet at late quotations ; hams and bacon, choice lots, in good request, at satisfactory prices ; other kinds are difficult to quit: Cheese, nevvly-made, plentiful, most of which has been cleared, but values are lower. Fresh butter is still plentiful at a better average price; corned butter still ■unsaleable, and an attempt has been made to ship balance of consignments to England. Eggs: Larger quantity received, tho Average price has not been so high. A few cases of local apples of choice quality came to hand from Wairoa, and Hold at high prices. Gooseberries corning in more freely, prices lower.
