FORESTERS BALL AT KIHIKIHI.

Tub third anniversary of Court Kihikihi, No. G24U, Ancient Order of Foresters, was celebrated in the Town Hall, on Friday last, the Ist inst. The attendance was not so good as on former occasions, probably owing to the rain which set in just iu time to prevent such as are not over fond of the art of dancing to remain comfortably at home. Every effort was made on tho part of the officers and members to ensure a comfortable and social night's _ enjoyment, and herein they did not fail. Bin. P. Coyle acted as M.C. iu his usual efficient style. Dancing commenced at 0 p.m., ;uid was well kept up until rosy mnrn. ( _ The music was supplied by Mr H. T. Sibley, and was very good. The costumes of the fair sex were varied and well got up, but a description of tho attiro of each I will not venture t:> give, for it would simply mean an essay on silks, satin.s, and other costly fabrics. I have been asked who was the belle of the ball; for myself, I think this was well contested ; at all events there were three, and in their hands I beg to leave the mutter, though, of course, there should be one out of the three that outshone the others. I, however, will not give a decision, because I think they were nil belles. In the matter of refreshments there was ample to satisfy the appetite of allcomers. This part of the entertainment was efficiently carried out by the members' wives, who contributed in a liberal way the necessary viands. Conspicuous among the many good things was a tine sucking pig, got up in the usual fantastic stylo, and kindly presented for the occasion by our respected townsman, Mr Wm. Bond, of the Star Hotel. Ample justice was done to all the good things. After refreshments dancing was again commenced, many nf thn ladies appearing decked with the officers' and members' regalia, thus adding to their charms. As daylight appeared many began to take their departure. Tho baud played the National Anthem, and closed upon a nights' enjoyment and social good feeling, such as we hope will for ever exist among our community.—-(A correspondent.)
