The Waikalo Times Office, Friday. AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKIOTS. Messrs A. Buckland a\d Sons' Weekly Report.—At the Haymarkct during the past week, fodder has ranged from LN 3d to 3s tid per ewt ; oaten chaff, _ £4 por ton ; oa f ri, wholesale, 2s 3d to l!.j -"id per bushel. On Friday horse stuck were in full number, and steady demand. Good animals in condition ranged in price from £S to £1S each ; medium quality from .4-8 upwards ; a spring cart brought £10 ; light waggon, £17. On Tuesday hides and skins wove in larger number than for many weeks. Ox hides kept their values, and cow hides were better worth. Sheep skins were also better worth. Prices were :—For ox hides, from 3d to 4d ; cow hides, 2d to 2.jd ; calf skins, 4d and per lb ; bones, 4s 9d ; tallow, 17s and 17s 6d per cwt; pelts, 7-id to !)d : lamb skins, Is to Is (id ; butchers' sheep skins generally, 4s to Gs, but one parcel brought 8s 5d each ; wool in bags, (i.jd to B.'>d per lb. At tho cattle fair held at Kemuera on Saturday last, a less number wore penned than was advised. There was a numerous attendance of buyers, and the prices were the highest of the season. At the country cattle sales hold respectively at Pukekohe on Monday, and Papakura on Wednesday, cattle were yarded in full number. Buyers were also present, and satisfactory prices obtained. At Remuera on Thursday, dairy cattle were dull of sale. cattle in large numbers were in request at full values. Fat cattle in average numbers, fully kept last week's values, from lUs to 18s por lOOlbs. Some averages were :—SO steers, £15 6s ; 24 steers, £7; 20 steers, £5 17s S steers, &G 3s \ 6 steers, £0 5s ; 8 steers, £0 7s ; 10 steers, £0 Is. Calves numerous, generally of small size, and brought from 4s to 15s each. Sheep, in average supply, were better worth than last week. Is each ; store wethers brought from 12s 9d to 14s ; longwonlled wethers in their wool, ISs to 20s ; woolled cross-bred wethers, 13s to 15s. Lambs were numerous and lower than last week, about 'Is each, they brought from (is to 13s but the greater number from 8s to lls ; pigs plentiful, kept their values. Prices have varied little if any as compared with tho previous week. We quote : Oats, 2s (id to 2s 10d per bushel ; maize, 2s lOd to 3s ; uressed hay, £I 2 s (id to £3 10s per ton. Horses: The demand was not quite so brisk as on tho previous week, and none of a really good stamp were brought forward ; values remained unaltered. About the usual number were entered for disposal by auction at the Durham Yards on Friday. The demand fluctuated a good deal, but most of the lots were cleared. We quote: Hacks, from £5 to £1110s ; medium draught and light harness horses from £5 10s to £15 10s each. Wool, hides, skins, etc. : A limited number of hides were pitched at the 1 >urliam Yards on Tuesday, but more than an average of sheepskins and wool. J'or the latter there is a brisk demand at fully .jd per lb advance on last year's values. Cattle : Activity has character tensed the. market; barely an average number of all descriptions were brought forward, but the demand was good, and all descriptions advanced in value from 5s to 10s per head. A moderate number of all kinds was brought forward on Tuesday at Newmarket. Competition for dairy cows was steady and brisk for both stores and fat beasts. Well fatted light weights sold relatively higher, obtaining 18s per 1001bs,_ Some averages of steers were £7 15s, £0 15s, £0 12s, £6 lis 3d, £6 (is Gd, £0 Gs 3d, £G 53, £5 18s 'Jd, £5 10s Gd, £5 l(is 3d, £5 13s Od ; cows, £4 10s, £4 ss, £3 17s Gd, £3 ss. We quote : Calves : 9sto;lGs; yearlings, 18s to 255; two-year-old steers, £110 ato £2 Is ; grown steers, £3 5s to £4 ; dry cows, £110s to £2 ; dairy cows, £2 to £4 ss. Sheep : There %vas a very short muster of sheep at Newmarket on Tuesday. The well-bred sheep lacked condition, as in fact so did almost all the lots, but there was an advance in value of 3d per stone each ; ewes and lambs were sold at 12s Gd ; wethers in wool were sold at from IGs Gdto 18s each ; shorn, 12s to los shorn ewes, 11s tf# 13s !)d ; lambs, Gs to 13s each.
