" SWEET IS REVENGE."
A rather remarkablo instance of woman vengeanoo has occurred in a suburb of Paris. M. Griaot, a peaceful and lawabididing agent of a telephone company, resided at Conrbevoie, having as a neighbour a vixenish female who kept a drapery establishment. Between this person and M. Griaot certain disputes arose concerning a right of way, and the matter was referred to the local justice of the peace, who decided in favour of M. Grisot. The •' draperess," exasperated at the decision hired two nocturnal marauders at of. each to wreak her vengeauco by deputy on the ill-fated telephone agent, who whs met one night lately by the rusoals and told by them t* " stand and deliver." After the miscreants had rifled tho mail's pockets they endeavoured to strangle him, M. Grisot escaped temporarily from their cluthes, and was subjected to such horrible mutilation that his life id despaired of. The assailants have been arrested, bat the woman who was the instigator of the dastardly deed has left her place of business at Courbevoia, and is nowhere to be found.
