Jewish operatives in East London are forming unions for shorter hours. Mr Biadlaugh is seriously ill. The Times protests against the proposal to hand over Swaziland to Transvaal. Bernard V. Shaw, formerly Commissioner of Police for the Capotown district, has been appointed to a similar position in New Guinea. He is a son of Capt. Shaw, of the London Fire Brigade. The present stock of pig , iron is 650,000 tons below that usually held. New Zealand mutton is selling at <Ud per lb.; quotations for beef remain unchanged.
